Subtitles

At Chapeltown Picture House, we want to make the cinema experience more inclusive and accessible. We believe that having subtitles whenever they are available is a major step towards this goal.

This is why we have subtitles ON by default. Our listings will clearly state whether subtitles are enabled for each event.

Getting to and from the Venue

  • CPH does not have its own car park. The nearest public car parks are Red Bank Car Park, located on Faber St, and the car park on Roger St. They do not have designated accessible parking spots.

  • Vehicles may drop-off passengers directly in front of the venue. The drop off point does not have a drop curb.

  • The nearest train station is Manchester Victoria (0.4 miles / 0.64 km away from CPH). Click here for station accessibility information.

  • The closest bus stop is on Cheetham Hill Road. Buses servicing these stops include Go North West and Stagecoach. Some buses are accessible for wheelchair users. More detailed information is available here.

Venue Access

  • The main entrance to CPH is located at 50 Red Bank. For wheelchair access to the cinema, the fire exit to the cinema will be used. Please email ahead of your visit to let us know about any access requirements.

  • The pavement is flush with the main entrance door. There are steps and a sloped entrance into the venue.

  • The main doors can be pushed or pulled but will usually be held open. This is the only entrance for public use.

Inside the Venue

  • There is one accessible toilet within this venue designated for public use. The toilet is not for the sole use of people with a disability. Accessible toilets are open to all that need them regardless of impairment, long term condition, or disability. This toilet is located on the ground floor. To access it from the cinema, please talk to a member of staff, and they will allow you to use the accessible entrance, which exits onto the sloped street leading to the front door. We are always working towards making our venue as acccessible as possible.

  • The bar located in the hall is wheelchair accessible from the cinema.

  • GRUB and CPH are dog-friendly. Assistance dogs are welcome in all areas of CPH and GRUB. Water bowls can be provided by members of staff upon request.

Inside the Cinema

  • Most events, unless stated otherwise, are seated. Our seats can be moved, so wheelchair users are able to choose to sit anywhere inside the cinema. Contact ahead of your visit to reserve your space.

  • The flooring is painted concrete.

  • The venue is dimly lit. During screenings, all lights will be switched off. For relaxed screenings, lights will be kept on at all times.

  • The venue is equipped with two AeraMax DX95 Air Purifiers.

  • Films at CPH will be subtitled as standard when possible. If a film cannot be subtitled, we’ll let you know on the film listing.

  • We accept CEA cards! Please email us after purchasing a ticket so we can provide you with a free ticket.

  • If you’d like to obtain a CEA card, email us and we’ll send you a form to sign up.
